STAY Island, linked below and displayed on the right, is a visual report of the evaluation results. It showcases the various milestones, challenges, and supports that STAY youth may experience throughout their transition to adulthood.
STAY youth emphasized in both the Youth Retreat and their interviews that every STAY youth has a unique journey to adulthood: this is reflected in our version of a Journey Map. Review what Journey Mapping is in our evaluation process here. Unlike other process-focused Journey Maps, STAY Island is an exploratory, open world where you may choose your own path and take on milestones, challenges, and supports. Whether you are visiting STAY Island as a youth, case worker, or community member, you can use the questions on Reflection Island in the map to think about your own situation or the experiences of young people you engage with.
STAY Island is meant to represent the experiences of transitioning into adulthood from the STAY youth who participated in the evaluation. It may resonate with young people with similar experiences, and is not meant to represent every single youth transitioning out of foster care and into independent living exactly.
